Social Media: What do you want to learn?

Tuesday, March 03 at 10:50AM

I'll be teaching two sessions at CEC on social media (Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Flickr, all that jazz). I could spend days talking about all the ins and outs of these topics, but I don't have days, so I thought it would be nice to hear in advance what people are most interested in learning about?

For example:

- Are people interested in Twitter from a "How will it help me keep up to date on my industry", "how will it help me publicize my event?", or "how will it help me keep in touch with people I know and care about" (or all three?)
- Do people feel like they have a handle on LinkedIn, or would they like some instruction on how to use it to create business opportunities?
- Are people interested in learning about "the next big thing", or should we focus on what's useful and applicable right now?

Let me know what you would like to hear covered. You know what they say: if you don't ask for it, you may not get it.

Thanks,

Jordan

Jordan,
I am looking forward to your presentations. While I used to consider myself tech savvy for many years, I feel I have fallen behind in my knowledge base, partly because I don't have kids! Sometimes I just want to escape all the electronic noise in life, so I have been reluctant to get a PDA, participate in FaceBook, Twitter, etc. However, I need to stay relevant. I want to know how these applications can help me in my hotel sales and marketing position and I liked your ideas that you posed about focusing on what's useful and applicable right now. Thanks.

Hi Jordan,
I'd rather we focus on what's useful and applicable right now. I'd like to learn more about Twitter, and "I'm on LinkedIn....now what?". I still have a hard time seeing Facebook as a business tool so more clarification on that. Thank you!
